Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes
After just two months of dating, Tom Cruise chose the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris as the setting for his proposal to Katie Holmes in 2005. "Yes, I proposed to her," the Oblivion actor told reporters after the event. "It was early this morning at the Eiffel Tower, so I haven’t slept at all. Today is a magnificent day for me," he gushed. "I”m engaged to a magnificent woman."
Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston
Justin Theroux couldn”t have asked for a better birthday celebration, popping the question to Friends actress Jennifer Aniston in a New York City restaurant last year. A spokesman announced soon after: "Justin Theroux has an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage."
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Hollywood star Brad Pitt made his proposal to actress Angelina Jolie in 2012 a family affair when he gathered the couple’s six children and presented his wife-to-be with a custom-designed, diamond engagement ring. Estimated to be 16 carats and worth £325,000, Angelina "cried and smiled" before hugging her kids and showing them the ring.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith
Men in Black actor Will Smith decided to keep things simple when he proposed to his now wife of 16 years, Jada Pinkett Smith. He described the moment to People magazine in 2005: "We were just lying there, going to sleep. I looked over at her, and I said, “You wanna marry me” Unplanned. No ring. Not the classic proposal." He added, "When you live the kind of lifestyle that we live, simplicity becomes the jewel."
Pink and Carey Hart
Always one to stand out of the crowd, pop singer Pink proposed to motorcycle racer Carey Hart during one of his races in Mammoth Lakes, California. The award-winning artist held up a pit-board on which she had written the words "Will you marry me" When Carey completed another lap without stopping, Pink changed the words on the sign to "I”m serious!" Carey promptly pulled out of the race and picked her up.
Seal and Heidi Klum
Musician Seal made sure his proposal to supermodel Heidi Klum in 2004 was extraordinary. He flew Heidi to a glacier in Whistler where he had built a snow hut. "They had brought up everything," the German model told Marie Claire after. "A bed with sheets inside the igloo, rose petals everywhere, candles. Very, very romantic!"
Ben Stiller
Comedy king Ben Stiller believed he had arranged the perfect proposal to girlfriend Christine Taylor. While she was away, the Zoolander star snuck into her house and decorated it with rose petals and candles. On her return, she found Ben ready to propose, but he had forgotten the most important thing – the ring. Luckily, he had only left it in the next-door room. Christine said yes and the pair has been married since 2000.
