Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem expecting second baby
Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have ended weeks os speculation by confirming that they are set to become parents for a second time. The actress” representative Javier Giner told Spanish TV channel TVE on Tuesday evening that Penelope is "extremely happy and very excited" about the pregnancy.

Javier, 43, and Penelope, 38, who married in July 2010 in the Bahamas, are already parents to two-year-old son Leo.

The couple”s happy news coincides with the announcement that Penelope”s sister Monica Cruz is also expecting a new arrival this year. Single Monica, 35, revealed last month that she used an anonymous donor to achieve her dream of starting a family.

Monica, who works as a model and an actress, explained in her blog that she feared waiting to meet her perfect partner would leave it "too late for motherhood".

The Spanish star sought help through artificial insemination and said she had decided to speak publically about the decision to avoid questions about her baby”s father.

"I am going to be a mother! I have managed to fulfill the dream of a lifetime," she wrote. "Because of that I want to share with all of you this special journey and to be able to tell you about all my experiences during this fascinating time."

The sisters will no doubt support each other throughout their pregnancies and enjoy sharing their experiences, especially since Penelope bas been through it once before.

Speaking to a British newspaper she described how motherhood had changed her: "From the first second, you feel so much in love," she said. "It is a revolutionary experience," she added. That”s the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second."

Husband Javier echoed her statement saying "Everything”s going great" during a conversation with US TV chatshow host Jay Leno in an interview shortly after Leo was born. The Skyfall actor also maintained that he and Penelope hope to keep their personal life with son Leo private; a plan that will most likely continue if they do welcome another son or daughter.

The power couple have managed to keep a low profile, but Javier gave the world a glimpse at how much Penelope means to him when he received the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival. In a special tribute to his leading lady he said, "I share this joy with my friend, my companion, my love. Penelope: I owe you a lot and I love you so much."
